Mercy Health — Youngstown – the Mahoning Valley’s largest health care provider – and Firestone Healthcare – a large, independent practice in Columbiana County and southwestern Mahoning County – have announced they are joining forces to care for patients in the southern part of the Valley.

Firestone Healthcare providers and Mercy Health will come together to not only share the benefits of additional resources, but to combine the expert-level care that patients have come to expect.

The move will further optimize coordination of care, enhance communication and enrich the patient experience across Mercy Health and Firestone Healthcare locations, across Columbiana County and southwestern Mahoning County

Mercy Health and Firestone Healthcare have had a positive and valuable working relationship with a singular focus: improving the health status of the Mahoning Valley. Firestone’s strong focus on primary care will enhance the Mercy Health - Youngstown physician network, which is already the largest in the Mahoning Valley. This will lead to additional options for patients’ primary care relationships, which serve as an important pathway to wellness.

Dr. John Luellen, Market President of Mercy Health - Youngstown, said integrating the Firestone providers will strengthen care across Columbiana County.

“This is an exciting milestone not only for Mercy Health and the Firestone team, but for the communities we mutually serve,” Luellen said. “We’re confident that our shared commitment to caring for our communities will enable us to join together to offer the highest-quality health care and the most extensive provider options to the Mahoning Valley.”

Firestone Healthcare previously cared for patients through offices in Damascus and East Palestine. Today, the Damascus practice has been relocated to a new, larger office just 3 miles to the west at 605 E Ohio Avenue in Sebring.

This new location will provide enhanced access and create a new point of care for additional families in the surrounding communities – further delivering on Mercy Health’s promise of making health care easier.
