St. Elizabeth Boardman Emergency Medicine Residency Program

The innovative Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital offers a diverse, fast-paced resident experience. Part of Mercy Health, St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital is the newest addition to the not-for-profit organization. Built in 2007, the emergency department has 30 beds with 43,000 annual emergency department visits.

Rotations include 26 weeks of emergency medicine based at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital and out rotations at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center. Pediatric rotations are scheduled at Akron Children's Hospital, Mahoning Valley Campus. Weekly didactics are held that include formal lectures, case studies, board review, journal club and SIM lab education.

  • Generous Salary: PGY 1: $50,000; PGY 2: $51,000; PGY 3: $52,000; PGY 4: $53,000

  • Educational Stipend: PGY 1: $1,000; PGY 2-PGY 4: $1,500
  • Lab Coat/Scrub Reimbursement: $50.00 per year
  • Meal Allowance: A $225 food allowance in the hospital cafeteria provided each month

Moving Expense Allowance: Available for eligible residents at an amount not to exceed $1,000
