St. Rita’s Raises Breast Cancer Awareness through Pink Superhero Campaign

(Lima – October 6, 2016) – Superheroes are all around us, and some wear pink capes. On Saturday, October 8, St. Rita’s will be teaming up with Alter Ego Comics and three hair salons to kick-off our Pink Superhero Campaign. This campaign is raising awareness about breast cancer and that getting checked can help save lives. Anyone can be a superhero in the fight against breast cancer.

St. Rita’s Pink Superhero Campaign will be driven by pink capes, and our Facebook page will be sharing stories throughout the month of October. To kick-off this campaign, superheroes from Alter Ego Comics will be delivering pink capes starting at 9 a.m. that read “Have You Been Checked?” to customers at Beauty by Jill, Yellow Tuesdays Hair Club and Fresh N Faded while they get their haircut.

“Beauty salons are a perfect place to start building awareness because women take the time to schedule an appointment to get their haircut,” said Mary Kay Verhoff, Director of Women’s Wellness Center at St. Rita’s. “During the month of October, we want to ensure they are making time to schedule an appointment that could save their life, too.”

St. Rita’s will also be highlighting survivors, patients, physicians and the community. They will all sport pink capes and tell their stories, which recognize that anyone can be a superhero in the fight against breast cancer. The Pink Superhero Campaign will be taking place on St. Rita’s Facebook page throughout the month of October, and we encourage anyone to share their personal stories by using #pinksuperhero.
