Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center will be hosting its fourth annual Red Door Gala on Thursday, June 8. Hosted by the Mercy Health Foundation – Greater Lima, proceeds from this year’s event will support behavioral health services at St. Rita’s.

“It is our goal to ensure that everyone has access to the best possible care for mental illnesses, mental disorders and addiction services,” said Sara Ambroza, president of Mercy Health Foundation – Greater Lima. “We look forward to sharing upcoming critical advancements and details about our inpatient behavioral health unit renovation.”

During the formal presentation, the Foundation will award the Mercy Club Award. The award honors those who provide support to Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center as well as those who make a significant impact in the Lima community. Mercy Club is the Foundation’s annual giving club established in 1977.

The Red Door Gala originated with St. Rita’s 100-year anniversary in 2018 and is inspired by the poem, “The Door of Mercy,” which was written by Sister Mary Wickham, an original Sister of Mercy. The anniversary celebration culminated with the Red Door Gala, which revealed a secret entertainer who emerged through a red door on stage. Since its inception, the gala has hosted singers LeAnn Rimes, Mark Farner’s American Band and Deana Carter.

Who is next?

“The element of surprise is definitely a theme for the night,” said Ronda Lehman, president of Mercy Health – Lima. “Although we enjoy coming together to celebrate, the Red Door Gala is really about advancing St. Rita’s Mission in providing quality, compassionate, nationally recognized care for the communities we serve. We are very thankful to everyone who has supported and continues to support the work of our team.”
