The 8th annual Lourdes Paducah Iron Mom Half-Marathon raised $63,859 for Family Service Society. The event, held on Mother’s Day weekend, showcased Paducah to 874 runners from 15 different states.

“The best part of Iron Mom is seeing the community come together,” says Nora Gipson, Iron Mom Race Director and Family Service Society Board Member. “We continue to grow because of all of the people in Paducah that make this possible-  area businesses, city and county personnel, hundreds of volunteers, spectator groups, and our neighbors along the route.  This is an event everyone can be a part of.”

“We are thrilled with the record amount of money raised this year by the Lourdes Paducah Iron Mom,” says Candace Melloy, Family Service Society Executive Director. “Every dollar raised directly affects a family in need in our community. Summer is the hardest time of the year for families because their children are out of school, therefore the pressure on the family is greater. The timing of Iron Mom could not be better, as it enables us to provide vital services to the community at a critical time of year.”

Proceeds from Lourdes Paducah Iron Mom Half-Marathon benefit Family Service Society, a not for profit agency serving as a crisis resource to the residents of Paducah/McCracken County since 1927. Family Service Society provides assistance with food, clothing, medications, dental and utilities to local families in need.
