St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital is proud to announce it has earned recertification from The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check Mark for Primary Stroke Care.

After receiving initial certification in 2004, as one of the first hospitals in the state of Ohio, St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital has undergone a rigorous review of quality compliance, management, facilitating and delivering the standard of care necessary to be recertified. This certification will last until November of 2023.

St. Elizabeth Youngstown is pleased to be the only hospital in the immediate area to have earned this distinction. As a stroke is an event where seconds can be a massive difference in outcome, having this high-quality stroke care close to home is critical to the health and wellness of the residents of the Mahoning Valley.

“Accounting for nearly 150,000 deaths every year, strokes are the fifth leading cause of death in the United States. It is vital to the health of our community for us to provide high-quality stroke care here in the Mahoning Valley.” said Erika Mikula, Certified Nurse Practitioner. “Receiving another recertification from The Joint Commission is proof of our dedication to providing our community with the highest quality of care.”
