Cutting-edge care for you
Find the most technologically-advanced robotic surgical procedures for cardiac, urologic, thoracic, gynecologic, bariatric and general surgery patients right here — at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center, Mercy Health - St. Charles Hospital and Mercy Health - St. Anne Hospital. We use the daVinci® Surgical System, which is a sophisticated surgical tool that provides our skilled surgeons with:
- Greater surgical precision
- Increased range of motion
- Improved dexterity
- Enhanced visualization
- Improved access to the surgical field
Instead of more invasive, traditional open or laparoscopic surgery, the daVinci® Surgical System allows our surgeons to skillfully perform surgical procedures for a wide range of complex conditions through 1–2 cm incisions.
Our robotic surgical system offers numerous patient benefits including:
- Less pain and blood loss
- Shorter hospital stay and overall recovery time
- Less risk of infection or scarring
- Faster return to normal daily activities
- Better clinical outcomes (in many cases)
We were the first hospital in our region to use the daVinci® Surgical System, and we currently perform the most robotic procedures in the region.
And because we’re a local leader in robotic surgery, our center has a Laparoscopy, Simulation & Robotics (LaSR) Training Center. Surgical residents come to the LaSR Training Center to become proficient in the latest and most effective laparoscopy and robotic surgical techniques.
We also require our staff of surgeons, nurses and surgical technologists to take rigorous ongoing training. Our nursing staff is required to complete a specialized curriculum in robotic surgery, and our technicians undergo a rigorous robotic and laparoscopic curriculum.
