Springfield Police donate to Cancer Center
The Springfield Police Division has made a generous donation of $1,840 to the Springfield Regional Cancer Center that stemmed from a creative fundraiser within their division, Operation Long Beards. The men in the division were allowed to grow beards during November and December with proceeds benefitting those less fortunate in the community. The response was overwhelming with $1,840 being raised for their Operation Thanksgiving/Operation Santa programs. At the same time, an anonymous donor agreed to match those funds with a donation to the Cancer Center.
“As the Chief of Police, I could not be more proud or appreciative of my employees,” said Springfield Chief of Police Stephen Moody. “Thinking of others during the holidays, working to better others in the community and creatively finding a way to make someone else’s day a little brighter.”
The donation to the Cancer Center was accepted by Dr. Daljeet Singh and Dr. Sandra Victor.
