Mercy Health is proud to announce that Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital has been recognized as a 2024 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health – an annual program that recognizes outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®.

Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital was first named on the national list in 2022 and remained among the very best in providing care to our nation’s rural communities in 2023. This is the third consecutive year that Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital has received this recognition.

“Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital has served the region for 110 years by providing high quality and compassionate care. This national recognition further demonstrates the exceptional talent and clinical expertise of our team,” said Andrew Morgan, president of Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital and Mercy Health – Willard Hospital. “As we continue to expand access throughout our rural region, the team at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital remains committed to provide exemplary care. I’m proud of this team for the work they do every day.”

Now in its 14th year, the INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Featuring a methodology utilizing publicly available data, the INDEX is leveraged nationwide by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations and state offices of rural health to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital is one of only six rural hospitals in Ohio to earn the recognition. A complete list is available at chartis.com.

“During an era of profound uncertainty for rural health care, the Top 100 rural hospitals continue to provide a unique lens through which we can identify innovation and inspiration for how to deliver high quality care to increasingly vulnerable populations,” said Michael Topchik, national leader of The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “We’re delighted to be able to recognize all this year’s Top 100 but especially the more than 40 first-time recipients across both categories. It’s wonderful to see so many new facilities join the ranks of our Top 100 alumni.”

The Chartis recognition is among many awards earned by Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital, including earning a ranking recently among health care providers and insurers in Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work award program for five years in a row. Additionally, the hospital was one of 20 facilities identified on the Small Community Hospitals as a 100 Top Hospitals® according to an independent quality analysis provided by PINC AI™ and reported by Fortune. It is the second time Tiffin Hospital has appeared on the list.
