Prescription Drug Assistance Program
This is a free service to help senior citizens, and in Mahoning County adults at least 18 years of age, get medications that are used on a long-term basis. Drug companies sometimes provide free or low cost drugs to those who cannot afford them. The drug companies set the guidelines of which medications are available. We will help you find out if you qualify and complete the forms.

Who can apply?
Senior citizens who live in Mahoning County. People with no prescription drug benefit. Those who meet income guidelines. People with a doctor willing to help.
How do I apply?
Call one of the sites listed on the back of the brochure. Be prepared to answer questions about your income, insurance, and the number of people who live in your house. All information will be kept confidential. If you qualify, we will schedule an appointment to meet with you.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
- Proof of age
- Proof that you live in Mahoning County
- Proof of household income
- All prescription pill bottles
- A printout from your pharmacy that lists the cost of you medications
- All health insurance cards
- Doctor’s name, address and phone number
What happens after I apply?
In most cases, you will pick up you medications at your Doctor’s office. It can take 4-12 weeks for the medications to arrive. It is your responsibility to notify us that you received your medications. This is an on-going process and you may need to re-apply every six weeks.
