Program Overview

The PGY 1 Pharmacy Residency Program provides a training experience that develops the resident both clinically and professionally. The purpose of the residency program is to develop pharmacists who are self-directed learners possessing clinical expertise, leadership and professional skills, enabling them to excel in diverse practice environments. Upon graduation, the resident will be well prepared to practice as a clinical pharmacist or pursue a specialized PGY 2 residency program.

Residents work with the staff to customize their own educational experience with a mix of required and elective rotations. The Department of Pharmacy operates around the clock with a team of about 25 clinical and 30 supporting staff members.

Our pharmacists serve as preceptors for several pharmacy schools in Ohio. Clinical services include:

  • Clinical pharmacy services in the emergency department
  • Drug information
  • Education to various healthcare professionals
  • Formulary services and policy development
  • Patient care rounding with multidisciplinary teams (critical care)
  • Pharmacokinetic and anticoagulant consultation services
