Our regional Academic Affairs department serves to provide oversight and guidance for all medical education programs at St. Vincent Medical Center. We have a Director of Faculty Development and Educational Metrics, who is focused on developing program offerings designed to enhance the teaching skills of our faculty and senior residents. We support resident research and scholarly activity with a full-time Academic Research Coordinator, library staff and a contracted biostatistician. We are committed to academic excellence and believe in training and graduating competent, compassionate, highly skilled physicians.
St. Vincent Health Science Library, St. Charles Bernard K. Craw Memorial Library and St. Anne Hospital Library make up our regional library services. These libraries provides access to thousands of medical journal titles and textbooks, both electronically and in print. Two of our libraries offer individual study rooms, multimedia rooms with the most up-to-date software, and corrals for quiet study and reading or preparing for lectures, presentations and tests. Libraries are accessible to residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Experienced library staff is available Monday through Friday.
Residents and faculty affiliated with St. Vincent Medical Center residency programs have the opportunity to work with our full-time academic research coordinators, Julie Stausmire, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC and Victoria Calderon, MPH. Their primary responsibility is to facilitate the development, implementation and successful completion of resident-related research projects and scholarly activities. This includes assistance with protocol development, Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission documents, data management and final reports. They are also available to assist with manuscript preparation and poster development.
