Program Overview

Mercy Integrated Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) Program is one of the most successful and respected CLS programs in the nation. This reputation is based on the fact that our certification scores are consistently among the highest of over 200 programs nationwide. We contribute our success to our small class sizes, individual instruction, committed faculty, and our new state-of-the-art facility. We are strongly committed to providing students with the best educational experience possible.

The program is based in Mercy Integrated Laboratories on the campus of  Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. This state-of-the-art laboratory opened in March of 2000 and services Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center, Mercy Health - St. Anne, Mercy Health - St. Charles and Mercy Health - Children's Hospital (a total of over 700 beds) in addition to outreach, outpatient and long-term care facilities throughout the region. The lab employs approximately 200 professionals to perform over 3.2 million tests a year.

We are strongly committed to preparing the highest qualified lab professionals to meet the needs of the community and Mercy Health Laboratories.  We provide an educational experience that is comprehensive, innovative, and responsive to the needs of the profession. Our dedicated staff enable the students to join them in improving the health and well-being of our communities.

Accreditation

Mercy Health Integrated CLS Program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)*. The program was established in 1950 and until the year 2000 operated as Riverside School of Medical Technology where all graduates passed a National Certification Examination to become MT (ASCP) Medical Technologists and/or CLS (NCA) Clinical Laboratory Scientists.
