Application Deadline

We participate in the NRMP match. All applicants must apply through ERAS. Applicants are required to utilize this resource, and we cannot grant interviews or positions without a complete application. Applications are accepted until December 31st. 

Eligibility

In accordance with ACGME Essentials, residency applicants with one of the following qualifications are eligible for appointment to accredited residency programs at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital:

  • Graduates of Medical Schools in the U.S.  and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
  • Graduates of Osteopathic Medical Schools in the U.S.  accredited by the American Osteopathic Association Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (AOACOCA).

Graduates of medical schools outside the U.S. and Canada who meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Have received a currently valid certificate from the Education Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) prior to appointment
  • Have a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. Licensing jurisdiction in Ohio

St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital requires all international medical school graduates to hold a valid J1 or H-1B Visa unless they have been granted permanent residence or are already a U.S. citizen.

Basic requirements for consideration: 

  • United States Citizen, permanent resident, or able to obtain J-1 or H-1B Visa.  
  • Graduates from medical schools accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) in the U.S. or Canada within the last 4 years.
  • Graduates from medical schools accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) in the U.S. within the past 4 years. 
  • International medical school graduates from accredited institutions within the past 4 years, who must provide a valid ECFMG certification and/or hold a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.

Completed ERAS application, including:

  • An official Dean’s Letter or equivalent from medical school
  • Three professional letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Medical School Transcript
  • USMLE/COMLEX scores. Candidates with more than one failure will not be considered.
  • U.S. clinical experience is strongly recommended.
