Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 10, event honoree Margi has dealt with swollen ankles, toes, hands and hips since then but hasn’t let her condition get in the way of her goals.

“Keep going, don’t let it stop you. There may be times when you are tired, or in pain, and you need to rest and that is okay. Don’t let it keep you from doing that you want,” says Margi.

Margi intends to run the whole race and is excited to see what her team will achieve. Margi has been a Jingle Bell Run team captain for the past five years.

“I chose to start a team so that my coworkers and I could help raise awareness and funds to benefit our patients, families, coworkers and ourselves,” says Margi.

The Arthritis Foundation’s long-running Jingle Bell Run is a festive race that helps champion arthritis research. The popular annual event has proven a fun way for the community to get out, get moving and raise funds and awareness to fight and cure arthritis, the nation’s leading cause of disability. Whether you prefer to walk or run, wear your ugly Christmas sweater or tie jingle bells to your shoes, this 5K never fails to spread smiles, holiday cheer and a winning spirit.

Voted as one of the nation’s “Most Incredible Themed Races,” the Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis is an important way to make a difference in the fight to end arthritis, a serious disease that affects 50 million Americans, roughly one out of five adults.  Contrary to popular belief, arthritis is not an “old person’s” disease. There are more than 100 different types of arthritis that affect people of all ages. In fact, two-thirds of people with arthritis are under the age of 65, including 300,000 children.
