Mercy Health - Cincinnati Announces Opening of New Freestanding Emergency Department and April 23 Community Open House in Western Hills

(CINCINNATI; April 13, 2016) – Continuing its longstanding commitment to the West Side, Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, invites the community to attend an open house celebrating the completion of construction of its new freestanding emergency department in Western Hills.

Mercy Health is tearing down the facility formerly known as the Western Hills Medical Center and has built a new, modern facility that has a new name, Mercy Health - Queen City Medical Center, to take its place.

“The name change came about for several reasons,” notes Michael Kramer, Mercy Health West Market President and CEO. “First, to eliminate any confusion with the West Hospital Emergency Department, located on the new West Hospital campus, less than four miles to the north, second, to reinforce that this is a totally new facility here to serve the community and third, to reinforce its location and main entrance at 3131 Queen City Avenue.”

The Community Open House takes place Saturday, April 23 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the medical center, located at 3131 Queen City Ave. Visitors will meet the staff¬ and tour the new, freestanding emergency department. The free, fun-filled event will also include food, face-painting for the kids and the young at heart and musical entertainment.

As part of a campus renovation project, the 24-hour emergency department moved into a newly renovated 12,000 foot space in the HealthPlex building.

“The new medical center continues to transform the way that we deliver healthcare on Cincinnati’s West Side. It provides greater privacy for patients as well as the latest equipment. Its thoughtful layout helps the care team provide patients with more efficient and effective care,” said Kramer. “We invite you to come see the site for yourself. We’re convinced that in the case of a medical emergency when seconds count, your first impulse will be ‘take me to a Mercy Health emergency department.’”
