Mercy Health hospitals receive OHA safety awards

Cincinnati, OH (Sept. 9, 2014)-- Five Mercy Health (formerly Catholic Health Partners) hospitals have been recognized by the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) for their strong occupational safety records and commitment to low injury rates.

Mercy Willard Hospital (Willard, Ohio), Mercy Health West Hospital (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Humility of Mary Health Partners (Youngstown, Ohio) received group awards for their work with the OHA Statewide Hospital Safety Campaign.

In addition, Mercy Health Fairfield Hospital (Fairfield, Ohio) and Mercy Tiffin Hospital (Tiffin, Ohio) were recognized for being in the top 20 percent overall for lowest injury rates in the state of Ohio. Hospital groups are determined by number of employees within the healthcare facility.

"The OHA Hospital Safety Awards, currently in their 62nd year, assess occupational safety programs and recognize improvements in safety records," said Mike Abrams, president and CEO, Ohio Hospital Association.

The safety of everyone in a hospital environment is of upmost importance, and the recipients of these awards display a strong commitment to the care of patients, visitors, employees and volunteers. We are pleased to celebrate this achievement. The safety awards were created in 1953 by the OHA and the Industrial Commission of Ohio to promote workplace safety. The program is administered by the OHA Board of Trustees Safety Leadership Council.
