(CINCINNATI; August 14, 2015) – Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces free information sessions that cover treatment options for unwanted varicose and spider veins.

The sessions take place at Mercy Health — Rookwood Medical Center, 4101 Edwards Road, Suite 300 in Norwood, ZIP 45209 from 6-7 p.m. on the following dates:
• Thursday, August 20
• Tuesday, September 15
• Monday, October 19
• Wednesday, November 18
• Tuesday, December 15

Varicose veins appear mainly on the legs as large, raised, swollen and twisted blood vessels. Spider veins are smaller and tend to appear as red, purple and blue twisted vessels that are visible on the skin.

Varicose and spider veins can be unsightly and Mercy Health’s team of board-certified vascular surgeons has 70 years of combined experience in treating them. Treatment options include:
• Radiofrequency Ablation - This minimally invasive treatment helps with a condition known as superficial venous reflux, which causes varicose veins and other painful symptoms. In this procedure, doctors use a small catheter to deliver radiofrequency energy to the vein wall, causing it to heat, collapse and seal shut.
• Micro Phlebectomy - In this minimally-invasive treatment, doctors remove varicose veins through tiny incisions on the surface of the legs. Done in an outpatient setting, the minor incisions don’t require stitches and are very quick to heal.
• Sclerotherapy - An injection procedure performed in an outpatient setting, sclerotherapy treats spider veins and small varicose veins in the legs and face. After treatment, patients can resume their routine activities immediately.
• VeinGogh™ Ohmic Thermolysis – This procedure treats very fine spider veins, hemangiomas and vascular birthmarks on the legs and face. After this in-office procedure, patients are free to resume normal activities immediately.
