St. Rita's Transitional Care Unit Receives Five-Star Rating
Lima, OH (Feb. 9, 2015) Medicare.gov recently awarded St. Rita’s Transitional Care Unit a five-star Nursing Home Compare rating. Nursing Home Compare, a service offered by Medicare.gov, is intended to give consumers a resource for comparing nursing homes and care units in their area based on three areas of evaluation: health inspections, quality measures and staffing.
Health inspection ratings are based on comprehensive on-site annual inspections. Staffing ratings are based on two measures submitted by the facility: 1) Registered Nurse (RN) hours per resident day and 2) total staffing hours per resident day. Quality measures ratings are based on a variety of care assessments; for example, whether residents are in pain, whether they have pressure ulcers, whether they are losing weight and whether they have received the flu shot.
Based on the evaluation of these three criteria, St. Rita’s Transitional Care Unit is providing much above average care to patients. Patients and families have a choice when selecting a nursing home or a transitional care unit. Because facilities vary in the services they provide, reviewing Nursing Home Compare ratings can give patients and their families a snapshot of the care provided and standard measurements for comparing.
