Welcome to the postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program at Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital.  The staff of preceptors includes those who are/have:

  • Board certified pharmacotherapy specialists (4)
  • PGY1 residency trained (4)
  • Completed SIDP certificate training for Antimicrobial Stewardship (2)
  • Completed ASHP Emergency Medicine Certificate Program (1)
  • Infectious Diseases professor, University of Findlay (1)
  • Certified Anticoagulation Care Providers (4)
  • Tobacco treatment specialists (2)
  • Completed APhA diabetes certificate program (3)

The staff precepts Advanced Pharmacy Practice (APPE) students from Ohio Northern University and The University of Toledo.  Rotations include Internal Medicine, Pulmonary/Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, Emergency Medicine, Medication Accuracy and Outpatient Medication Management. The resident would be expected to participate in precepting APPE students.

Our program offers training in many aspects of adult medicine designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide a high level of clinical service throughout their careers and position the resident for board certification and a postgraduate year two (PGY2) residency training program.

At this time, the program is not designed to provide sponsorship to international students.

Jennifer L. Richardson, PharmD, BCPS, CACP

Jennifer Richardson, PharmD, BCPS, CACP is the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator for Mercy Health – St. Anne Hospital.  After spending over thirteen years in this role, Jen has been involved with multiple aspects of clinical pharmacy practice working to maximize safe and effective pharmaceutical care for all patients.  Patients are her passion.
In her role as coordinator Jennifer has worked to expand clinical pharmacy services including starting an Outpatient Anticoagulation Service, Medication Accuracy Service, Antimicrobial Stewardship and Emergency Medicine Services.  She serves on many hospital and system level committees and has served as liaison for large projects such as CPOE and IV pump implementation.

In addition to patient care, Jen is a preceptor for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience rotations for PharmD Candidates enrolled in institutions such as the University of Toledo and Ohio Northern University.  She is the program director and a preceptor for the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Mercy Health- St. Anne Hospital.  She also is a PGY-1 residency preceptor with Mercy Health – St. Charles Hospital. 

Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Toledo.  She maintains her board certification in Pharmacotherapy and is a Certified Anticoagulation Care Provider.  Because of a strong passion for antimicrobial stewardship, Jen has also completed the Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate program offered by the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) and is the Pharmacy lead of the hospital’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Program.
