American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Invites Mercy Health - Cincinnati Bariatric Nurse to Join Exam Construction Group

(CINCINNATI; October 2, 2014) – Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery has extended a very special invitation to certified bariatric surgery nurse Angie McLearen based on her experience.

McLearen, who works with the Mercy Health – Weight Management Solutions’ bariatric surgery team, will be part of a select group meeting in Denver, Colorado, to construct certification exams for nurses seeking bariatric nurse certification.

The team will go through a test item by item, review content and ensure there is not too much content from any one area or any overlap. Next, the test construction team and a group of nurses will undertake a statistical analysis of the test, which helps in setting the score.

The Certified Bariatric Nurse (CBN) Program assesses the professional competence of practitioners of Bariatric Nursing. To earn the certification, a bariatric nurse must meet stringent professional requirements and demonstrate professional competency in this specialty field.

McLearen is part of Mercy Health – Weight Management Solutions, a nationally accredited Bariatric Center of Excellence®, providing surgical and nonsurgical weight loss options and  offer nutritional and behavioral counseling, support group programs, cooking classes and fitness programs to guide patients to become healthier individuals.
