REMINDER: Mercy Health - Cincinnati Marks Black History Month with a Community Health Fair and Celebration

(CINCINNATI; February 17, 2015) – Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, invites the community to mark February’s Black History Month recognition by attending a community health fair and celebration. Mercy Health is hosting the event to help community members learn more about their health while enjoying a Black History Month celebration.

The community health fair and Black History Month Celebration takes place at McAuley High School from 1-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 21. McAuley High School is located at 6000 Oakwood Ave., Cincinnati, ZIP 45224.

The health fair and celebration includes free health screenings, including mobile mammography, as well as kid-friendly activities, helpful health information, refreshments and entertainment.

The Urban League Mass Choir, under the direction of A. Michael Cunningham, will perform from 2:30-3 p.m.

From 3-4:30 p.m., Cincinnati’s top African-American health leaders will take part in a panel discussion, detailing their professional journeys and those who influenced them as well as their views on how to build a healthier community one person, one family, one block at a time.

Panel speakers include:
• Karen Bankston, PhD, University of Cincinnati Professor of Nursing and former hospital administrator
• Ramona Cheek, RN, Vice President of Nursing and Site Administrator of Mercy Health – Fairfield Hospital
• Noble Maseru, PhD, City of Cincinnati Health Commissioner
• Joya Sykes, MD, Mercy Health - Mack Road Family Medicine
• Stephen Wilson, MD, Mercy Health - Forest Park Internal Medicine and Pediatrics

Leonard Randolph, MD, Mercy Health Board Member and former Chief Medical Officer of Mercy Health – Cincinnati will moderate the panel.
